Pain management is an ever-present concern for caregivers and patients alike, and a public health priority. Supporting and caring for patients in pain requires multidisciplinary and interprofessional teams to coordinate their care with regard to the biopsychosocial dimensions of chronic pain.
This book sheds light on the understanding of pain through different models, programs and psychotherapeutic devices (behavioral and cognitive therapies, acceptance and commitment therapies, EMDR, teleconsultations, etc.). It presents recent studies and clinical vignettes in specific contexts where pain is prevalent (pain structures, oncology, intensive care units, etc.). The expertise of medical professionals, psychologists and philosophers provides a cross-section of views on the experience of chronic pain. They lead us to view the patient and the clinical practice of pain from a multidimensional perspective.
This book is aimed at professionals and students wishing to better understand the biopsychosocial mechanisms of pain and develop psychotherapeutic approaches.
