The French Association of Surgery organizes each year the congress which gathers all the practitioners of the field. This collection publishes two monographs on the themes proposed by the congress. These books offer a perfectly updated body of knowledge on a wide variety of subjects.
This report, which is the result of the 121st French Congress of Surgery, has the following objectives:
▪ to make an inventory of the knowledge and skills of visceral surgeons in the field of traumatology in attack situations,
▪ assess their specific training needs,
▪ to provide them with a number of tools that will enable them to better position themselves in the organization of care in this type of SES (Exceptional Health Situation) and that will help them to better understand certain surgical situations that are not familiar to them.
The different aspects of the care of wounded by the attack will be explained:
▪ first of all, the typology of the attacks, depending on the vulnerable agents and the number of wounded,
▪ the second aspect, often unknown to surgeons, is organizational: how should the crisis be managed in the healthcare facility in which we work? What is the place of each one, and in particular of the surgeon?
▪ then the technical aspects will be presented, with of course the particularities of the management of visceral lesions, atypical in number and nature, but also the management of lesions now considered "extravisceral", some of which, by their gravity and rapid evolution, must be treated as quickly as possible.
