The six chapters cover all aspects of the initial management of patients from the call to dispatch to the removal of the airbag: telephone assessment, pre-hospital referral, triage on arrival at the emergency department, assessment and diagnostic referral, but also surveillance and monitoring, as well as the particularities encountered in situations such as serious trauma with the securing of the intervention site. In each situation, the experts detail the key points of optimal organization taking into account a large number of parameters, in particular human factors, as well as points of vigilance, areas for improvement and difficulties to be overcome in order to facilitate the interoperability of all these health professionals and ensure quality and safe care for the patient.
Thibaut Desmettre est professeur ordinaire à l’Université de Genève et médecin-chef du service des urgences des Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève. Il a coordonné cet ouvrage avec 33 contributeurs différents : des médecins urgentistes du SAMU et des services d’accueil des urgences, exerçant dans une vingtaine de grandes villes françaises différentes ainsi qu’en Belgique, des assistants de régulation, des infirmi(ers)ères spécialisé(s)es en urgence, et des médecins des sapeurs-pompiers de Paris.
