In the past few years, an increasing number of clinical trials have focused on neurology. This has been made possible by the description and understanding of the biological mechanisms involved in these diseases and the development of imaging methods. New molecules are now being tested in all areas of neurology, without exception. At the same time, clinical trial methodologies have changed, becoming much more rigorous but also more complex.
Thus, 30 years after the first trials, it is time to take a look at those that have left their mark on the history of neurological treatments. The aim of this book is to present, in succinct form, the methodologies used in these trials and the results that made it possible to go on to launch innovative pharmacological treatments or change therapeutic strategies. The book also looks back at the history of ideas, reminding the reader of what we knew or thought we knew before each of these trials, the methodological advances on the basis of which they were planned and executed, their contribution to their time and the extent to which they continue to affect neurology practices today.
